First and formost. You're off to spend a week living in the Desert. Bring EVERYTHING you need to survive. TOP TEN THINGS YOU NEED: 1) WATER     Drinking water - You need at least 1.6 Gallons per person per day!                             This is how much you need to be drinking. If you're also having some beer add more! Alcohol dehyrates you.     Other Water - Do you want a shower while you're there? Add more                          Do you want to wash dishes? Add more                          Do you want to load your squirt guns? Add more                          Do you want to have water for Cooking? Add more                          Do you want to help others? Bring LOTS More     Bottom Line: You need to bring about 20 gallons of drinking water per person min.                         TIP: Bottled water will stay Fresh. If your filling big containers, remember they're going to cook in the desert. 2) Food     You're going to bring everything you want to eat for a week. Plan your meals and snacks.     Bring dry goods and canned goods and an extra can opener. Food spoils fast in high heat.     TIP: You're cooler full of ice is going to last maybe a day. (See maps for closest store) 3) Clothes     You're in the desert! It's going to be Very Hot in the day and Freezing cold at night.     So bring your shorts and your parka.  And costumes - you got this is a Freak festival right? :-)     The weather on the Playa is extremely unpredictable! Dust storms, Rain, Freezing cold. It's all happened before...     Bring extra clothes. You're going to get dirty or covered in paint or other things...     Shoes and/or Sandals - desert sands are hot. Bring a big hat. It's great for keeping the sun off you're head. Bring bandannas. Soaking a bandanna and putting it on your head will cool you off. I do this all the time it will make the day seem 10° cooler. 4) Camping Gear     You're camping for a week. Bring everything you've got.     And don't forget you tent stakes and extra rope. It does get windy.     Wood! You will want a fire and there aren't many trees growing in the desert.     Tarps - if it starts raining you'll be a happy camper     Sunshade - IF you have a popup, bring it. You will want to get out of the Sun     Toilet paper and a shovel. nuff said. 5) Sun tan Lotion     You're going to get more sun than you ever had before in your life.     Get the highest SPF you can find and use it! Regularly thoughout the day!     Once you're burned - you're screwed.  Bring Lots!     Bring Aftersun - with Aloe and Vitamin E - you're still going to get burned. 6) Trash Bags (HEAVY DUTY)      If you bring it in - You're packing it out. In your car.  That trash & recycling is going to stink.      Trash bags also make handy rain coats in a pinch. 7) Duck Tape    Just incredible stuff - never leave home without it.    Personally I've used it to tape a broken ankle back together before I had to ride 500 miles home on my motorcycle.
